Ali was born in Cairo, where he grew up and learned religious chanting. His father is Sheikh Mohamed El-Helbawy, the reciter and worshiper on the Egyptian radio and television. Sheikh Mohamed witnessed most of the famous reciters and worshipers in Egypt, such as Sheikh Mohamed Imran, Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Iskandarani, and Sheikh Mamdouh Abdel-Jalil. Ali used to attend meetings with them and hear them singing. He sang on the school radio until his reputation reached the educational administration, and he became involved in all the parties of the Educational Administration and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. He participated in several European and Arab festivals.
