The Goethe-Institut Cairo and Alexandria is back organizing the Goethe Film Week starting the 25th of June until the 2nd of July 2021, presenting a selection of contemporary German films as well as a selection of Arabic films, in addition to special screenings and premieres of newly produced films. Films vary between feature-length, documentary and experimental, which were screened in many international festivals, both this year and last year.

This year we devoted a whole day to screening restored and digitized classic German films now suitable for viewing after they almost disappeared from the audience's memory.

The Goethe-Institut in Cairo and Alexandria can receive audiences but in very limited numbers for film screenings. Therefore, we present for the first time the “Goethe on Demand” platform, which was launched this year to make most of the films selected in this edition available online and to be shown exclusively through the platform throughout the film week period.
