Overview
Karim Mahmoud is a consultant and lecturer of cardiology, vascular diseases, and interventional catheters at Cairo University. He is a member of the European Heart Association and head of the Continuing Medical Education Division of the Egyptian Heart Association. Cardiology is a branch of internal medicine concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of the heart and the circulatory system. This field includes the medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, heart valve disease, and electrophysiology. Pediatric cardiologists are paediatricians who specialize in heart diseases, whereas cardiothoracic surgeons or cardiac surgeons are doctors specializing in heart surgery, which is a speciality of general surgery.
