HSBC stands for "The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation”. It is a federation that comprises a large group of banks as well as a coalition with the British Bank of the Middle East —a bank based in London, Britain. HSBC's first branch to open in Arab countries and the Middle East was established in the Lebanese capital, Beirut in 1946. HSBC has a network of branches, spread all over The Middle East, which makes it the largest international bank in the Middle East. The bank has received many awards for its achievements in the various banking categories.
