Overview

Amr Ibn Al Aas mosque is the oldest mosque in Egypt and Africa, the mosque was built in 642, by Amr Ibn Al Aas who is considered to be Egypt's most important historical figure, as he introduced Islam to Egypt. None of the original structure remains today, the mosque has been restored several times, except a small number of original architraves remain and can be seen along the southern wall of the mosque.
