Overview
Sakkara was the necropolis of Egypt during the Old Kingdom. It is a massive site of funerary complexes, pyramids, and temples. The most obvious symbol of Sakkara is Zoser’s Step Pyramid. This pyramid, built for King Zoser in around 2700BC, is the world’s oldest pyramid. Other attractions include the great Mortuary Complex and other pyramids and mastabas.
